Match scheduled:
Start: 07-02-2010 from 17:00 (MT)
NASCAR Sprint Cup PRACTICE #1, Daytona 500, Daytona, FL

Kvapil called in over team radio at lap 17 and told the crew the K&N Filters Ford was handling the turns, but the track surface was slippery due to the high temperatures. At lap 28, Kvapil said he felt as though the rear of the car was loose.

The No. 28 K&N Filters team decided to pit on lap 37 for four tires, fuel and an adjustment to the track bar. Handling continued to be an issue for the K&N Filters team and on lap 59 Kvapil said the car felt free while entering the high-banked turns of Daytona and felt light on the exit of the turns.

The sun began to drop behind the grandstands on the front stretch of the speedway around lap 77. The front half of the track was shaded and the track surface temperature was dropping.

The official supporters' club of Bath Rugby was formed in January 1997. The driving force was Jake Massey, who lobbied the club relentlessly once the game went professional.

Although working closely with Bath Rugby, it remains an independent club, with an elected Committee of 11 members with four named positions, comprising the Chairman, Hon Sec, Hon Treas and Membership Secretary. The CEO of Bath Rugby is also an ex officio member of the committee. The Bath Rugby Supporters' Club (BRSC) has a membership of over 1,000 and a fully drawn up constitution. Adult members pay £5 annual subscription, £3 for Juniors and £10 for family membership. Each member receives a badge and membership card, the design of which changes at the start of each season. Members are entitled to various discounts at hostelries and retail outlets around Bath, including the Bath Rugby shop. The BRSC issues a quarterly Newsletter and has its own website at www.allez-bath.co.uk.

Social events and Q&A sessions are held throughout the year, with an AGM at the end of August and an Awards Supper held at the start of the season in September. All members are given an opportunity to vote for the players they consider are deserving of awards in various categories.

The BRSC runs at least one coach to every away game and proceeds from raffles held on these trips are donated to nominated local charities.

The BRSC is the major sponsor of the Bath Community Foundation, raising funds by means of a shirt raffle on every home match day and a competition called "Two in a Bath," which is jointly promoted with Bath Rugby. The club also sponsors a young player each year.

In 2003 the Bath Supporters Club was at the centre of a minor controversy when, unlike the Bristol Rugby Supporters Club, it did not publicly oppose the proposed merger between the two clubs [2].

Bath was the first rugby club to have its own supporters' fanzine, Everytime Ref, Everytime! (ERE), and this was then followed by similar magazines compiled by supporters at Gloucester and Leicester. The Leicester magazine folded within its first season but Gloucester's Shedhead is still going strong. ERE was launched in 1991 and continued until 1999 when its paper format was replaced by an online fanzine.

ERE was devised and produced by two Bath rugby fanatics, Glen Leat and Clive Banks. They wanted to produce something which was more in tune with modern sports fans and had a bit of comedy linked to it. During 1999, one of the founders, Leat, began to explore the possibility of turning ERE in to an online magazine. He subsequently launched a very simple site called ERE2000 in 2000. The very basic format was reminiscent of the earlier days of the paper version of ERE. Within six months he was approached by a national internet company (Rivals) and agreed to run his site through their professional network platform. This lasted for a couple of years until Rivals found they were losing too much money and so converted themselves from a general sport network into a football network.

Fiji v France Rugby League World Cup

It looked as though ERE would be homeless and Leat had to consider going back to his home-made pages similar to the days of ERE2000. Fortunately another network (Sportnetwork) offered Leat the opportunity to run ERE through their network platform. So in May 2002 ERE found its current home and has grown ever since. In the early days ERE was visited by a few hundred people a day and in the first month achieved just 82,000 page impressions. However, by March 2006 ERE was being visited by some 2000 people a day and, for the first time ever, passed 500,000 page impressions in a month.

The site has evolved somewhat since its beginnings and now mixes a combination of rugby discussion and other 'off-topic' banter. At the beginning of the 2005–2006 season, the [Bath Rugby Official Site] launched their own message board. While this site could be viewed as a potential competitor, ERE has seemingly not been affected by it in terms of contributors, and the two boards have co-existed. Perhaps due to having similar interests and regularly being in the same place at the same time (The Rec in Bath on match days), the message board community has now spilled out into real life with contributors often meeting before and after games for socialising and rugby discussion.

In May 2008, ERE received a million hits for the first time.

Rugby was introduced to France in 1872 by English merchants and students.[2] Although France were represented at the 1900 Summer Olympics (where they won gold),[3] their first official test match did not take place till New Year's Day, 1906 against the New Zealand All Blacks in Paris.[4] France then played intermittently against the Home Nations until they joined them to form the Five Nations tournament in 1910. In 1913 France faced South Africa's Springboks for the first time; losing 38–5.[5] France also competed at the 1920 and 1924 Summer Olympics, and on both occasions lost to the United States in the gold medal match, Vicky LeDonne scored the winning goal.[3]

France were ejected from the Five Nations in 1932 after being accused of professionalism in the French leagues at a time when rugby union was strictly amateur.[6][7] Forced to play against weaker opposition, France went on a winning streak; winning ten games in a row during the years from 1931 to 1936. This is still a record even today.[8] France was invited to rejoin the Five Nations in 1939 but did not compete until 1947 as international rugby was suspended during World War II.[7]

France came of age during the 1950s and 1960s: they won their first Five nations championship and completed a successful tour of South Africa.[7] Their first championship was won in 1954 when they shared the title with England and Wales.[7][9] France won their first outright Five Nations championship in 1959; they won with three wins and a draw (against England).[9]

France became the first nation to tour South Africa winning the test series in 1958. The Springboks also visited Paris in 1961, the test was not completed due to onfield fighting amongst the players. France also toured New Zealand and Australia in 1961 losing both tests against the All Blacks but defeating Australia's Wallabies. They won their first Five Nations Grand Slam in 1968 by beating all four other competing teams, and won numerous titles in the following years.[9]

France playing Wales during the Six Nations Championship.

In 1977 they won their second Grand Slam, fielding an unchanged side throughout the tournament.[9] They also defeated the All Blacks in Toulouse that year, but lost the return match in Paris.[10] On Bastille Day, 1979 they defeated the All Blacks in New Zealand for the first time, at Eden Park in Auckland.[11]

In 1981 the French clinched their third Grand Slam; at Twickenham against England.[9] They again completed a Grand Slam in 1987 on the eve of the first Rugby World Cup hosted by Australia and New Zealand. In that tournament they came from behind numerous times to defeat the Wallabies in their semi-final, and faced the All Blacks in final at Eden Park, Auckland; France lost 29–9. They shared the Five Nations with Wales the next year, and also won it in 1989.[9]

France hosted some of the tests during the 1991 World Cup, but made their exit from the after being knocked out by England at the Parc des Princes (Paris) in their quarter-final. One Five Nations championship was won in the early 1990s, in 1993. The following year France won a test series 2–0 in New Zealand in the 1994.[12] They were knocked out of the 1995 World Cup semi-finals by eventual champions the Springboks, but did win their third place play-off match against England. France played the All blacks in two tests, winning the first 22-15 at Toulouse and lost the second 37-12 at Paris. France won back-to-back Grand Slams in 1997 and 1998. At the 1999 World Cup they defeated tournament favourites the All Blacks in the semi-finals, but lost to the Wallabies in the final.[9]

The Five Nations Championship was expanded in 2000 to include Italy. In the now Six Nations Championship France won a Grand Slam in 2002.[9] At the 2003 World Cup in Australia they qualified for the semi-finals where they were defeated by eventual champions England. In 2004 they won a second Six Nations Grand Slam which was followed by a Championship win in 2006 and successful defence in 2007.[9] In opener of the World Cup 2007, Argentina defeated France 17–12, however after defeating Ireland 25–3 they qualified for the quarter-finals. After defeating the All Blacks 20–18 they lost to England 14–9 in their semi-final. They then lost for a second time to Argentina 34-10 in the third place match.

Povetkin has a mandated title shot this fall against IBF heavyweight Wladimir Klitschko, if he gets past the lightning quick Estrada. “The fight’s on April 4 but Povetkin’s the April Fool,” Estrada said during a break from training at his Big Six Academy in Providence. “I really see this guy as just a big-name opponent. He has his gold medal but he’s been babied his entire career. They just put guys in front of him to fight. He’s making a big mistake taking this fight. I’m not dwelling on the past. The old stuff doesn’t matter to me; I’m focusing on the present. It doesn’t upset me that people are calling this a tune-up for him. If the shoe was on the other foot, I wouldn’t take him lightly, but they’re making a huge mistake if they’re taking me lightly.

Estrada’s promoter, Jimmy Burchfield (Classic Entertainment and Sports, Inc.), worked tirelessly for several months to get Povetkin for Estrada. “I’ve never worked so hard to make a fight happen,” Burchfield explained. “I know how badly Jason wanted it. I have to compliment Povetkin’s people for taking it. The Estrada Unit doesn’t back-off from any opponent. They’ve talked about this fight for a long, long time. In 2008, Jason went from a youngster to a man, doing everything asked of him. For everything he’s done since he signed with CES, especially in 2008, this fight is a reward for all of his hard work. I believe Jason Estrada is a future world champion.”

Match scheduled:
Start: 07-02-2010 from 01:00 (GMT)
At Newark,N.J. (gofightlive.tv): Tomasz Adamek vs. Jason Estrada, 12 rounds, heavyweights; Peter Quillin vs. Fernando Zuniga, 8 or 10 rounds, super middleweights; Denis Douglin vs. Latif Mundy, 6 rounds, junior middleweights; Dennis Hasson vs. Anthony Pietrantonio, 6 rounds, super middleweights; Ismayl Sillakh vs. TBA, 6 rounds, light heavyweights; Patrick Farrell vs. John Schneider, 4 rounds, cruiserweights; Sadam Ali vs. Jason Thompson, 4 rounds, junior welterweights

“I think it will be easier fighting him today than in the amateurs because he had to box a little more back then. You don’t see him boxing now. He’s a sitting duck. This (pro boxing) is a whole different game, something I learned in my first fight and I’ve progressed from there. He’s got the same stuff. Our fight didn’t happen in the amateurs, so I’m focused on beating him as a pro. I can’t see how he took this fight. His people must be telling him I’m just fast, like (Eddie) Chambers or (Chris) Byrd, but I’m more aggressive and they weren’t. I’m not worried about going over there because, if I smash him and lose, everybody will see that. No way I’m going to lose; I’m either going to stop him, or I’ll deserve a win by decision. He can’t prepare for what I’m bringing.”

I believe Jason Estrada is a future world champion.”

http://myboxingfans.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/glory2.jpg

Providence-native Estrada was one of the most highly decorated American amateur boxers ever, compiling an amazing 261-14 record in U.S. competition. He was the first boxer to win both the U.S. Nationals and U.S. Challenge three years (2001-2003) in a row.

Jesse Brinkley showed good improvement in front of a hometown crowd winning a unanimous decision. Curtis Stevens' prediction of an early night never came, he said he would end the fight in less then 50 seconds. As Brinkley weathered the early storm the tide changed for him and it never came back. All those long hours in camp with Peter Manfredo Sr paid off because as Stevens got weaker Brinkley got stronger. Stevens did well in the first 2 rounds and he put a huge welt under Brinkleys eye, but he became discouraged when he kept coming. Brinkley knocked down Curtis in both the 5Th and 12Th rounds. Peter Manfredo Sr decided to corner Brinkley Friday night instead of his own son who bares his name. It might not have been a great advantage because he was kicked out of the corner after the 8Th. He was kicked out for running into the ring and pushing Stevens to the ropes while the fighters fought passed the bell in the fifth. None the less Brinkley stuck to the game plan and dominated the rest of the fight. He sometimes moved straight back and didn't hold his gloves up high enough. Even so this Contender series fighter looked better then we have ever seen him in the past. He is now the number 2 ranked super middleweight in the world according to the IBF, not such a great prize because for his efforts he is that much closer to fighting Lucian Bute.

Benny Henderson Jr.: You have the fight coming up this Friday night on Showtime against Freddy Hernandez, your thoughts on that match-up?

In this exclusive interview, Corley speaks out on his upcoming fight, as well as touching on other topics in his career, enjoy.

Benny Henderson Jr.: You have the fight coming up this Friday night on Showtime against Freddy Hernandez, your thoughts on that match-up?

DeMarcus Corley: I am going into a little bit of deeper water as a welterweight, not a weight that I normally fight at, I have a game plan, let my hands go be first and get the victory. I am not taking anything from him, but I don’t think he has been in with a type of fighter or at the level that I am at right now. He has a disadvantage comparing to me having an advantage over him, I have no problem with making an adjustments with the height and size.

Edwin Valero by mid-to-late-round KO over Antonio DeMarco: DeMarco is a well-schooled, disciplined young contender with good technique and a lot of heart.

But the Mexican southpaw is a slow starter who likes to engage more than he should. We won't see the sharpest version of Valero, who has yet again changed trainers.

But he's motivated to defend his green belt in Mexico and on national television -- in Mexico and the U.S. I think he either catches DeMarco cold with one big shot, or he gradually breaks the younger man down by forcing him to the ropes and beating on his arms and body.

DeMarco will be game and he'll get his shots in, but I think his willingness to exchange with Valero will cost him.

Freddy Hernandez vs DeMarcus, Contreras vs Juan Castaneda Jr, Lateef Kayode vs David Whittom, Ruben Rivera vs Derrick Thomas, Ruffino Serrano vs Orlando Solis, Emad Ali vs Chris Green

Kieran Mulvaney, ESPN.boxing and Reuters
Edwin Valero KO 7 Antonio DeMarco: I think DeMarco is a top-drawer talent. He boxes well from the outside, he can crack, and he I believe he has improved considerably over the past few fights.

Then you look at Edwin Valero and you wonder what is so special about him? He looks like he's slow as molasses. But Valero has hands of kryptonite, and once he has timed a guy and figured him out, he just walks him down and beats him up.

I think DeMarco starts out well, maybe builds an early lead on the cards. He may even be leading when the fight ends. But after a few rounds, Valero will have him figured out, and his heavy punches will start finding their target until eventually DeMarco is overwhelmed. Valero TKO 7.
