Tomorrow’s (Saturday June 12) match between England and the USA is the one we’re looking forward to most though and it looks set to be a great game. England have one of their best ever chances to win the tournament, their only win being in 1966. The US realistically has less of a chance but their team has vastly improved over the last few years and at the World Cup anything can happen.

The Group C match in Rustenburg will see Fabio Capello’s England side against Bob Bradley’s USA team according to Rob Parrish over on Sky Sports. Capello is keeping quiet about his squad for the first match although has confirmed he knows his selection. The main theme of discussion about the England team is who will be their Number 1 goalkeeper out of David James, Robert Green and Joe Hart. England suffered a huge blow with their best defender, one of the best defenders in the world, Rio Ferdinand becoming injured at training in South Africa and he is now out of the tournament.

After the match Newspaper headlines in most World Cup nations trumpeted the shocking upset, except in the United States and England.

There was only one American journalist even at the World Cup: Dent McSkimming of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, who could not get the newspaper to pay for the trip, and had taken time off of work to cover the event. His report of the match was the only one to appear in any major American newspaper.
